Erasmus+ Accreditation for Culture, Leisure and Tourism in Nyborg Municipality
Through the Erasmus+ programme, Nyborg Municipality has gained the opportunity to send staff from the Culture, Leisure and Tourism Department, as well as affiliated cultural institutions, on international learning and exchange activities.
Nyborg Municipality is Erasmus+ accredited within adult education (KA121) and acts as consortium coordinator for a joint international collaboration across the municipality’s culture, leisure and tourism sector. The accreditation enables Nyborg Municipality and its associated cultural institutions to carry out annual international job shadowing mobilities until 2027, thereby strengthening professional competence, quality and international outlook in work related to culture, community life and sustainable urban development.
The consortium consists of:
- Nyborg Bibliotek (Nyborg Public Library)
- Nyborg Musikskole (Nyborg Music School)
- Kulturhuset Bastionen (Bastionen Cultural Centre
- Østfyns Museer (East Funen Museums), among others
- Nyborg Slot (Nyborg Castle: cultural heritage and the cradle of Scandinavian parliamentary democracy)
- Borgmestergården (The Mayor’s Residence: local museum and renaissance building)
Together, the consortium’s institutions work with culture, cultural communication, civil society, volunteering, cultural heritage and lifelong learning, for the benefit of all adult citizens in Nyborg Municipality.
The knowledge and experience gained through Erasmus+ mobilities are subsequently applied directly in Nyborg’s work with culture, urban development, tourism, events, citizen engagement and international cooperation.
Objectives of the Erasmus+ Plan
The consortium’s Erasmus+ plan is based on four overarching objectives:
1. A stronger international profile
Nyborg’s cultural institutions and the city as a whole are to be strengthened as an international destination for culture and cultural heritage, benefiting both residents and visitors.
2. Sustainable urban development
Erasmus+ is to contribute to social, economic and environmental sustainability through communities, partnerships and the green transition.
3. Diversity and inclusion
All citizens should have the opportunity to participate in cultural life – including through digital solutions and new forms of community engagement.
4. Democratic participation
Culture, volunteering and community life should strengthen citizens’ role as active co-creators in the development of Nyborg – locally and within a European context.
Erasmus+ in the Cultural Sector
Nyborg Municipality has brought together culture, leisure and tourism within one joint department in order to create greater coherence, stronger citizen involvement and a clearer international profile. At the same time, Nyborg is entering an important development phase with the reopening of Nyborg Castle in 2027 as a major international cultural heritage attraction and a potential future UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Erasmus+ provides the consortium with access to European partnerships, knowledge and networks, supporting development and professional practice in relation to:
- cultural heritage, urban development and tourism
- more inclusive and diverse cultural communities
- citizens as active co-creators
- the green transition within the culture and events sector
- the municipality’s international profile
The overall aim is to create stronger communities, increased participation and better opportunities for citizens and institutions to develop Nyborg together.
